For the last class of the winter session the kids painted a still life of tulips...to welcome spring! They first drew a simple sketch of the flowers and then painted their pieces using a limited colour palette. It's so inspiring to see how free and expressive they are. And always so interesting to notice that even though they were looking at the same vase of flowers and had the same paint colours, they are all so unique...just like them!
To celebrate the spirit of Valentine's Day this year, my 7-12 year olds class painted these beautiful still life paintings of tulips. Before we started painting, I gave the kids a simple demo, as I talked about trying to see the general lines, shapes, movement and direction of the flowers, rather than trying to created a perfect picture of what they see. They then took to the sketching and paintings, and the results are so beautiful. Each is so unique and really does reflect their personalities. Enjoy! xo
