Blossom and Bloom Show

After a small break to re-imagine and refill my well, I was back to exhibiting at the Blossom and Bloom Show last weekend, with new artwork.  The venue, the main hall at Union station, was gorgeous and with spring just blossoming all around, it felt like the perfect way to come out of hibernation.  Enjoy some pictures from by booth!

Thank you to the angels in my life, my folks and friends who helped me out both emotionally and physically! I couldn't live my dream without you.  And to all those who stopped by that day, with such genuine interest and appreciation for my work, thank you from my heart!! Your conversation, energy and encouragement made my day!

Baby Roses and Tiger it's coming along!

After showing in a few Art Markets this summer, I felt inspired to make some new pieces.....and to play with my process.  I decided to just have fun with it and explore where this piece wants to go, where it wants to take me, without thinking too much about the final outcome. I'm using all the elements that I love...botanical stains, water colour paper, tea stains, japanese papers, paint and ink...but I'm using them here all together and in slightly different ways than usual.  I'm really loving the feeling of taking the lead from my materials.  Here's some photos of the process thus far!  The original flower stain turned out too bright and overpowering so I laid it in the sun for a few days and that lightened it up quite a bit.  Then I stained the paper again with tea.  I finally liked the background mood and moved onto adding some paint and other papers.  That's where I am at now....The pieces still have a ways to go but its cool to look back on  the gradual transformation.
