We've settled into our fall session and we're having a great time being inspired by the changing season and colours and textures all around us. The last few weeks, our focus has been exploring nature and more specifically leaves. Did you know the changing colour of leaves is actually the absence of chlorophyll, a negation that uncovers the oranges and reds that were there the whole time....! In our first project we experimented with leaf and sponge printing using a black background. It really made the colours of the leaves and surrounding prints pop. In our second project we learned about Tom Thomson and looked at some pictures of his paintings. The kids used these as inspiration for nature paintings...and some rather abstracts scenes too! Have a look!
