Flowers are so lovingly used to celebrate, honour, and memorialize the power and importance of many life events, from joyous to sad. Do you ever wonder what to do with your beautiful flowers as the days pass and they become dried out or die? Let me turn them into a keepsake for you. That special moment you hold near and dear to your heart can be captured in a beautiful painting that will last a lifetime!
I first began using dead flowers, when a dear friend passed on. I picked up a few flowers and began working through my grief, discovering life and beauty still present in these defunct little pieces of nature. What most would throw away was leaving me completely enchanted and helping me to see life where it appeared there was none. I've continued for several years working with the flowers through joyous and not so joyous occasions because I'm so moved by and the act of taking an item that most would consider useless or dead and renewing it's life with whimsy and spirit.
Helping others memorialize special moments in their lives, through your flowers and my art making, is fast becoming a beloved way to connect with you. I cannot describe in words the joy of someone seeing their flowers transformed into a keepsake painting for the first time. It's pretty magical. And so fulfilling.
Here are some more shots of recent keepsake paintings. One was created for a new bride using her wedding bouquet. The other was created as a 40th birthday keepsake. Enjoy! xo
